Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains how ThePrintGoods (operated by Nordic Content Group Oy, Business ID / Y-tunnus 3589679-1, Finland — “we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you visit theprintgoods.com or place an order with us.
We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Finnish Data Protection Act, and applicable consumer protection law.
Last updated: 2026.
1. The basics
We collect only the personal data we genuinely need to run our business — we don’t want to be in the data-hoarding business. We don’t sell your personal data to anyone. We use a small number of carefully chosen service providers (payment processors, print partners, shipping carriers, email and analytics platforms) and we list them below.
2. Who is the data controller?
The data controller for personal data collected through theprintgoods.com is:
Nordic Content Group Oy
Business ID (Y-tunnus): 3589679-1
Finland
Contact: contact@theprintgoods.com
3. What data we collect
We collect personal data in three main contexts:
a) When you place an order
- Identity & contact: name, email address, phone number (if provided), shipping address, billing address.
- Order details: products ordered, sizes, quantities, prices, order date, order history.
- Payment data: processed directly by our payment providers (PayPal, WooPayments). We see whether the payment succeeded, the amount, and a transaction ID — we do not see or store full card numbers.
- Communications: emails you send us about your order.
b) When you contact us
- Your email address and any other identifying details you include.
- The content of your message and our reply.
- We retain support correspondence for as long as it’s useful for resolving disputes or improving our service, typically 2–3 years.
c) When you browse the site
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, referring URL, pages visited, time spent.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see our Cookie Policy for the full breakdown.
- If you opt in to marketing emails, we collect your email and your consent record.
4. Why we use your data (and the legal basis)
Under GDPR, every use of personal data needs a legal basis. Here is ours:
- To process your order (legal basis: performance of a contract). We can’t ship a shirt without knowing where to ship it.
- To communicate about your order (legal basis: performance of a contract). Order confirmations, shipping notifications, support replies.
- To comply with our legal obligations (legal basis: legal obligation). Finnish accounting law requires us to retain order and invoice records for 6 years.
- To run and secure the website (legal basis: legitimate interest). Logging, fraud detection, and basic analytics.
- To send marketing emails (legal basis: consent). We only send marketing if you’ve opted in, and you can unsubscribe with one click any time.
- To improve products and service (legal basis: legitimate interest). Reviewing aggregate trends in what people buy and where issues arise.
5. Who we share your data with
We share necessary details with the following categories of service providers (“data processors”):
- Print and fulfillment partners, who receive the order details and shipping address so they can print and ship your order.
- Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, DPD, PostNord, etc., depending on region), who receive the shipping address and contact info to deliver your package.
- Payment processors (PayPal, WooPayments / Stripe), who handle the payment transaction.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers, who host theprintgoods.com.
- Email and analytics providers, where applicable, to send transactional and marketing emails and to understand traffic patterns.
- Government authorities when legally required (tax authorities, courts, law enforcement with valid legal process).
Each processor is bound by a Data Processing Agreement (or its functional equivalent) limiting them to the purposes we authorize. We do not sell your personal data to third parties for their own marketing.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers (especially print partners and certain analytics or email tools) may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. When that happens, the transfer is protected by one of the following GDPR-recognised safeguards:
- An adequacy decision by the European Commission for the destination country.
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
- EU–US Data Privacy Framework certification (where applicable).
7. How long we keep your data
- Order and invoice data: 6 years from the end of the financial year, as required by Finnish accounting law.
- Customer support correspondence: typically 2–3 years from the last interaction.
- Marketing email subscriptions: until you unsubscribe, plus a short retention period to honor your unsubscribe.
- Website analytics data: typically 14–26 months in aggregated form.
- Cookies: see the Cookie Policy for specific durations.
8. Your rights under GDPR
If you’re located in the EU/EEA (or wherever GDPR applies to your interaction with us), you have the following rights:
- Right of access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — request deletion of your data, subject to our legal obligation to retain order records.
- Right to restriction — limit how we use your data while a dispute is resolved.
- Right to data portability — receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest, including direct marketing.
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
- Right not to be subject to automated decision-making producing legal effects on you. (We don’t do this.)
To exercise any right, email contact@theprintgoods.com. We’ll respond within 30 days, as GDPR requires. We may ask you to verify your identity (e.g., via the email associated with your order) to make sure we don’t reveal your data to someone else.
9. Marketing emails and unsubscribe
We only send marketing emails (new design announcements, occasional offers) to people who have explicitly opted in — typically by checking a box at checkout or signing up via a form. Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is instant and permanent. We do not send marketing to people who have opted out, and we do not sell or rent your email to anyone.
10. Cookies
We use cookies to make the site work, remember your preferences, and (with your consent) understand how the site is used. The full list and purpose of each cookie is in our Cookie Policy.
11. Security
We protect your personal data with industry-standard measures: HTTPS encryption across the entire site, restricted internal access, vetted service providers with their own security commitments, and regular review of our setup. No system is 100% secure, but we do our part.
If we ever detect a personal data breach affecting you, we’ll notify you and the relevant authorities within the timelines GDPR requires (72 hours to the supervisory authority for serious breaches).
12. Children
ThePrintGoods is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has shared personal data with us, email contact@theprintgoods.com and we’ll delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when laws change, or when we add a new service provider. The latest version is always available on this page, with the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll also notify customers by email or a banner on the site.
14. Complaints and supervisory authority
If you believe we’ve handled your data improperly, please email us first — most issues are easier to fix in a conversation than in a regulatory filing. But you always have the right to lodge a complaint directly with the data protection authority in your country.
In Finland, that is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (Tietosuojavaltuutetun toimisto): tietosuoja.fi/en.
15. Contact
For any privacy-related question, email contact@theprintgoods.com with “Privacy” in the subject line.
